Before the Undersea Warriors SCUBA diving program, my mission to help the veteran community began with an invitation by my, soon to be, lifelong friend, US Navy SEAL (Plank Owner SEAL Team 10) and NY State High School & USA Hockey National Champion goalie, Gaberial "Gabe" Robert Accardi
After Gabe and I became friends and then neighbors, Gabe asked me if I had an interest to help him start a USA Hockey program for disabled Veterans, a Warrior Hockey program.
Together we made application to the Florida Panthers Foundation for a grant and on September 4th, 2019, we received an email that our grant request was approved.
It was the best day and the worst night. Gabe left this world that night. A hero's life that ended too soon. Gabe just wanted to help disabled Veterans, like he was. Gabe never got the news that his mission was successfully funded!
Gabe's legacy lives on. The Panthers Warriors Hockey program continues to help Veterans Heal Through Hockey. I am proud that I was his Co-Founder.
5 years as the Co-Founder, GM and President of Hockey Development Group, Inc, the parent 501c3 of the Panthers Warriors, we decided to take the non-profit in another direction.
We changed our name to Undersea Warriors, Inc. and began helping disabled Veterans Heal Through SCUBA. We are confident, as a US Navy SEAL (Frogman), Gabe would approve!
Not everyone can serve in the military. But everyone can serve veterans!
