Undersea Warriors, Inc. is a compliant 501c3 Non-Profit corporation.  The Undersea Warriors SCUBA diving program depends on fundraising activities, grants and charitable donations to fund our program.  SCUBA Diving is an initially costly sport.  Your donation, no matter the amount is greatly appreciated!  Thank you in advance!

We would like to share a short explanation of where we spend our donors money.  Here is an example:

To fund a beneficiary member, each Undersea Warrior Chapter will incur an initial investment of approximately $750 for SCUBA Certification Open Water and Nitrox Enriched Air (includes both E-Learning & Open Water Dives). 

Additionally, each chapter will fund the cost of snorkel equipment (a personally fitted mask, personally fitted fins, snorkel, dive boots and gear bag) at a budgeted amount of $470 per member.  When the member receives their certification, the snorkel gear is theirs to keep.  If a member fails to complete the required e-learning and open water dives, the snorkel gear will be available to another member to be earned.

Each chapter fundraises with the goal of purchasing dive gear (Regulators, Octopus, counsel (including compass & dive computer), BC and dive gear bag for their use. This gear will be available to each member to use on Undersea Warriors sponsored dives. Estimated cost $1,850.  If a chapter does not have the funds to purchase equipment, there is always rental gear available from the dive shop partner.

Although our gear is not the “top of the line”, diver safety is the #1 concern.  We purchase 100% of our gear and services at our local dive center partner.  Each chapter has a pre – negotiated discount with a local dive center shop partner, that only active chapter members will receive.  In return, we are assured our funds and our non-beneficiary members funds go further and we have a business partner who still makes a profit, while supporting our program.  We do not purchase “cheaper” equipment on the Internet or *accept used gear (*with the exception of dive tanks (with current dated VIP and or Hydro inspections) and dive weights).  All of our gear is purchased new, under warranty and serviced by trained experts.

Each year, we have our gear serviced per manufacture guidelines.  For members who want to own their own gear, we will offer an earned contribution from the program towards the purchase of program owned gear or new gear.  Earned program contributions are calculated as a percentage of the cost per item also based on member participation.

In addition to SCUBA certifications and dive gear, there are other expenses with operating a dive program which include: dive tanks, dive tanks annual service, dive weights, air fills, dive boat rentals and refreshments post dive (non-alcoholic).

No matter what, we will not deny a disabled Veteran seeking the benefits of the Undersea Warriors SCUBA diving program because of lack of funds!   “Putamus Viam Semper Esse”  There will always be a way!
